so ill be the first to say i don't know a goddamn thing about trucks. i know they have 4 wheels and a steering wheel and thats about it. however im in the market to buy a pickup since it will be more suitable for my 6'5" frame (i have an accord now) and simply because they're badass.

i was looking at f150s, rangers and maybe even tacomas (blasphemy on this site). every person whos opinion i consider valuable regarding trucks has different thoughts on the 3 above ranging from "thats a ****ty truck" to "theyre ****ing sexy" and everything in between.

i just want something simply that wont die on me and i wont have to be taking it to the repair shop every week. im not going to be doing anything like offroading or playing around in the mud.

anyone have any thoughts/suggestions? thanks :icon_cheers:

1) Sell the ricer! Buy American :icon_hornsup:
2) Buying American ( Ford ) pisses off liberals :yahoo:
3) Buying American ( Ford ) pisses off Obama :icon_thumby:
4) Buy a Ranger! :icon_cheers:
5) Welcome to Ford Nation! :headbang:

1st gen ranger. 2.9L 5sp. Or any F150 with a 300 Inline.

Got 300,000+ on mine.

later,
Dustin

I like my Ranger and I like my F-150, depends on what you need to do. For a dd you can haul the lawn mower around in go with a Ranger, I like my F-150 for hauling bigger stuff though.

A Ranger for someone 6'5"?

I'd go to a dealership and sit in some.

I'm 6'2'' and I have plenty of room! :)

taking a gander at this
thoughts? of course im gonna mod the shit out of it once i get it home. new tires, fog lamps, lift, bull bar perhaps

That's a great looking truck. I can't help but notice you said you weren't going to go offroading, then you said you would mod it with tires and a lift and stuff. You might as well start offroading, that's what these little guys were built for, and you'll have a blast doing it!

All three trucks you listed are good trucks. I went with the Ranger because I don't have a need for a larger truck like the F-150, and Toyotas are just more expensive.

What year Accord do you have? The 1998 and on Accords are pretty roomy, and I would think if the Accord is too small for you, the Ranger and Tacoma probably will be too (except the crew cab Tacoma). Is the issue in the Accord leg room, head room, or just too much of a pain to get in and out of because its lower to the ground? I think if you want something roomier you are going to be happiest with the F-150 of the 3 trucks you mentioned, they are extremely roomy.

That being said the Ranger is a great truck, I am only 5' 5" (I have plenty of room, but I'm a short guy). My only complaint is gas mileage could be better with the newer V6s. Friends never complain about space, but why would you complain if you are getting a free ride? A friend who is 6' has a 05' regular cab and sits with the seat all the way back, but he likes his truck. The Ranger could be worth checking out as an extended cab.

The Ranger you posted pictures of is pretty sweet :icon_thumby:

I am 6' 2". The ranger has plenty of room for me, even when getting bounced around.

If you are coming off of a Accord which drive fairly smoothly, the rangers 4x4's are pretty stiff. If you are 6' 5" you may find that you are bouncing off the ceiling of the cab. At 6' 5" though I think your going to be doing that even in the larger trucks.

As odd as this sounds. I would recommend a sun roof. That got me another inch in my mustang which was pretty low for me at 6'2".

First, God's last name isn't damn.:icon_thumby:
Second, I'd definitely get a Ford. And I've always loved the Rangers. I have a 1986 and 1997. Both are AWESOME and I would recommend them to anyone.:headbang:
