Hi, I'm John from England, sort of new to this site and forums in general but thought it about time to say "Hi". Early (pre 2000) Rangers are pretty rare over here - so owning one probably marks me as a bit eccentric - especially as mine shares drive space with a couple of Harleys, a Kawasaki chop', a Bee Em caff racer and a couple of old British classic cars. My Ranger's an '88 XLT Supercab 2.9 V6 with two wheel drive. It's finished in finest "rattle can" (we'd say aerosol can) satin black with a really tasteful red interior, the neighbours love it. It cost me the equivalent of about five thousand dollars so it wasn't cheap, I could have had a 2004 Dodge Dakota for less. I've got a set of Mangels wheels for it with 245*70*16 Wranglers and I'm just chopping a Hi Lux roll bar to fit as you can't get early Ranger stuff. It's pretty much rust free which is rare for any old vehice in this part of the world - due to our salted roads in winter - so my main aim is to keep it that way! Anyway enough for now, have fun...John. I'd load a picture but haven't figured out how yet!

I'll sell you my 88 2wd for a mere 500? eh then you'd be eccentric and thrifty...........

Welcome.

Frank

A mere 500 eh? All I'd have to do then is ship it, change the lights etc., make it UK compliant, get it inspected, register it and pay the taxes on it...you do pay taxes over there do you? Yea, I know, they are just about the only internationally agreed certainty. I know what I paid sounds a lot but it is in really solid condition, everything works, even the inflatable seats! I do know of another for about $800 but its fairly rough and comes minus engine and trans'. US trucks are really in vogue here at the moment hence the high prices, you should see what's being asked for all your old 50s and 60s F100s and C10s.

Heya welcome Moonraker, do you guys turn donuts in your trucks at night at Stonehenge? :D. It is truley great to get international members here and again WELCOME. :icon_thumby:

Moonraker? How'd you know that one? The story goes that the locals 'round here used to hide their illicit booze in the local pond to keep it from the revenue men. When caught one night fishing it back out they pointed to the reflection of the moon in the pond and explained that the moon had fallen in and they were trying to rake it back out. The revenue men judged 'em as dumb peasants let them be and went on their way - hence, folk 'round here being known as "moonrakers" the pond is just up the road from here..as for donuts at Stonehenge, do you want to get me shot! Thanks for the welcome folks...By the way, sorry I got the exchange rate wrong - my Ranger owes me more like $3000 not the $5000 that I said so you can all just stop filing export papers. Can't really get my head round how to upload a pic but I'll give it a go...
