First Crash in Simi Valley of 2009!

Autozone

The Autozone parts store in my town has an employee that had the same Ranger and he had done alot of work on it throughout its life so he was able to advise me to remove the bars from the wheels. He was talking about taking the rotor off too but I just undid it at the tie rod ends.

Now I'm having trouble screwing the bar back into the right tie rod end. I'm going to try to spread the tie rod end thingy so that the bar will fit in it.

Two months down and still no truck. Is there any hope?

It came to me the next day

I realized that they were reverse threads on the passenger side of the truck where I was trying to screw the bar back into the tie rod end.

Everything seems to be back together now and I am ready to fill it up and bleed the system although when looking on at the directions here on the Ranger Station I see the procedure was supposed to be started with the wheels off the ground so now I have to put it back on the stands.

Keep your fingers crossed.

I drove it out of the yard today.

It's still not safe to drive on the road though. The hood doesn't latch down and apparently I stripped some threads so that one of the bolts on the steering gear doesn't tighten down. I'm going to try to fix that by replacing it and putting a nut on the other side of the frame piece that the steering gear mounts to.

One weird thing happened when I started it up though was that the oil pressure light came on. How did I lose all that oil. Could I have damaged the engine? It wasn't driven since the accident other than from one driveway, up another driveway and into the backyard. I hope I caught it soon enough.

It was a pretty good day though.
