I have been clearing about a acre of heavily wooded land at my grandparents house. His house in in Valparaiso, IN and i plan on delivering within the Valparaiso, Merrillville, Hobart, and Crown Point area. My grandpa told me if I get the wood out of there I can have any of the money I get for it. I have a ford ranger with a short bed and a tool box. I figure that I can deliver about 1/4 of a cord. With my F-150 I figure I can deliver just under a 1/2 a cord. What would be a good amount to charge for both of these truck sizes? The wood is about 1/2 hickory and 1/2 oak. What would be reasonable stipulations for delivery? Like not traveling of an improved road, not carrying the firewood an unreasonable distance?

Thanks in advance for all the help :icon_thumby:

I see one guy on Sooner road trying to sell a cord for $80 or was it $40. He changes the price a lot.

As for weight on the Ranger. Fill the bed, it can take it. I've done it already when clear cutting my property and still got a trees left to cut too.

my dad charged around $150 a truck load delivered. he has an 04 f150. i think they can hold a little bit under a chord. i cant remember. but we used to haul wood with my ranger. its hard on the clutch. but it never failed. we beat the p**s out of the bed and had busted the back window. we got about 5 acres of our land logged. i remember we had a bunch of big stumps in the back. wood was above the cab and the tire was a few inches under the wheel well.

My dad and I have hauled firewood with his 100% 86 stock ranger (except good snow tires) ever since I can remember. Many of times stacked cab high with wood racks,it wore the suspension out, but never was too hard on the clutch as he just replaced it at 300k miles. Sadly enough he never drives the ranger any more, it just sits there, its insured and can be daily driven but he never drives it :(

Well that depends on a lot of things like if its seasoned or not your best bet would be to see how much others in the area are charging and under cut that some if your just looking to get rid of it. Around here lot of guys will charge extra if you want them to carry it and rank it for you.

I used to haul a bedload of wood (piled solid in a 7ft box with a cap, stacked in for max load) plus a 4x8 trailer with 4ft sides with wood stacked in it almsot every weekend from toledo to addison (about 45 minutes) with rusty (87 2wd 2.9/5sp) and even with the bumper dragging it handled it like a champ.

later,
Dustin

on what to charge it depends on wether it is split or not and if it has been seasond

you should be able to get a full cord in the F150. I used to haul a full cord in a 76 F100 before I restored it.
