For those of you in cali youll feel my pain , for those who don't , california requires that we subject our vehicles to punishment by morons at our local smog shop, my smog comes up i bring it in , this guy hooks up the truck and starts revin the motor up and shiftin through the gears like an idiot, i get a phone call and look away, two minutes later i look over and my truck is shooting flames out of the hood and smokin like a rasta vacation i yeall at the guy and he shuts it down i put out the fire and its starts right back up!! this guy looks at me and goes"ow you failed man, sorry" ..........................you SOB i ll kill ya so i look over the truck after i drove it home an oil soaked heat shield had riped and fell on to the header no big deal , but what a dodgam mess of a situation

That's insane... I woulda dragged the manager of the shop out by his collar and blew a head gasket on him! (probably a good thing I don't live in cali... in fact where I live now I only have a safety inspection and a couple mechanics I trust to let touch my ride, if not I'd probably have gotten arrested for threatening someone, lol).

thats the funny part about cali , i have no wipers, half these mexicans dont have any thing close to a safe truck , old tires busted rims, no light s bad brakes it all goes out here as long as she runs clean , no smog

If someone did that to my truck it would take reconstructive surgery
and years of expert therapy before he could do more than shit his
own pants.

Miss a shift and you'll be missing one of your testicles.

yeah I would make the shop pay for any repairs and any inspection fees for that........

I agree with you on the mexican part, because believe me I have seen plenty of 1974 toyota pickups smoking, coughing, and sitting on the side of the 405 overheated. So the way to have your smog passed without them even touching your vehicle is taking it to the san fernando valley, and the mexican out there for $100 will pass your vehicle without even inspecting it.

Yeah, there are places like that allover the state. Something pretty popular in the tuner/rice rocket scene. I'm really glad I don't have to hassle with smog for the time being. Plus, my registration is only slightly more than what I was paying on my 15 year old (at the time) S-10 in California.
