Finished Dana 35 swap

So last week I bought a 2nd ranger, an '86 for $300 (it even runs!!), but its kinda beat and my '88 is in better shape with less miles, so i snagged the Dana 35 out of the front end (rear axle to get swapped over soon). Totally killed 2 birds with one stone as the donor has a 4'' lift. only thing that i found weird after the swap is that the drivers side wheel sits flush with the body, while the passenger side tire sits like an inch outside of flush of the body. Is this normal?

sounds like a great deal. That is weird about the offset. It would drive me crazy!! That's all I would see every time I walked up to the truck.

What gears were in it?

That offset is not normal. I'd be rechecking the axle brackets to make sure nothing is bent.

When It was on the '86 and now that its on the '88 everything looks straight. I'll have to jack it up and try to get some pictures this afternoon when i get off work.

Definitely got a deal, $300 got me two axles w/ lift, an aluminum radiator, front and rear smitty built tube bumpers, 2 6'' KC halogens, new muffler, and a running motor.

I think the axles are geared 4.10, only because it was running 35's the sticker on the front axles seams to be MIA.

UPDATE!!! Guy I bought the truck from said something about adjustable knuckles, anyone know anything about these?

So as I mentioned above I talked to the guy I bought the truck from and he says this axle was equipped with adjustable knuckles for camber. Does anyone know how to adjust these and if it will help suck that passenger tire under the fender/push the driver side out a little??

I will look right now.

On a side note I just finished swapping the rear end, pretty sure the axles are geared at 4.10 or lower, way torqier. instead of shifting out of first at ~20 at ~3K rpm, its out of first at 15. Should be wonderful driving the mountains around Tahoe.

Tube bumper came from the donner. I have the matching rear one, but i like my diamond plate step bumper (my truck is also my work truck), makes a better step into the back. The Stache was to keep you lovely folks from stalking my via my license plate.

So I assume that the bolt on the right side of the knuckle is the above mentioned cam?

Thanks for everyone's help on this project of mine. As far as the camber adjustment goes I'm just going to have a shop adjust that when I take it in for alignment. Cheers guys, I'll be back next time I have an issue.

Update: Talked to former owner, says the guy who he bought the truck from geared the diffs to 5.29! Sure feels extra torqy

Might wanna get that done quickly if you like the tires that are on it. I ruined $250 in new tires in just a week of driving with mine less out than that...
