finding a junk m50d

i'm going to the junk yard in a few to look for a m50d. prob a dumb question. but does it have to be outta a 4x4? i think it would so the tranny would have the shaft coming out the back right? and if i do find it, i don't need the transfercase because i can use my old one right?

Yes, you need a 4WD transmission (of course) for a 4WD application.

Your transfer case will bolt up, but there may be shifter issues if it was a manual shift case from a different type of transmission.

gotcha. i'm working on something, but it will prob just be another toyo tranny

Yes, 2WD trannies have the shaft coming out in the cab.

ya the visual i had on that one was kinda........ unique as well. but i didn't wanna say nothing, i asked bout having to use a 4x4 tranny.. duh..
