I just bought this ranger off craigslist. It was overheated and the radiator side plastic was bulged/split. It still ran ok but quite rough. Drove itself on the trailer with no problem.
Pulled the heads and found found cracks so I bought a used motor for the heads. Got it back together and it ok, but running choppy and getting too much fuel when accelerating. Swapped the left and right o2 sensor connectors and she runs amazing now. Has good acceleration and power now.
Then the clutch went out, so I replaced that.
Got it legal then noticed a bad oil leak....drivers side valve cover. And it just so happens my donor motor was missing this valve cover too. Local bone yard didn't have one and my bank account was too tapped to buy a new one. I'm a college student for christ's sake!

Since I had a spare passenger side cover, I decided to make it a drivers side by cutting off the fill tube and welding a large washer over the hole to fit the rubber grommet for the pcv valve.
Not my best welds, but that was a 115v FCAW from harbor freight. Seems to have fixed my leak.
I hope all the bugs are worked out now. Are these common problems for these trucks? I'm wondering what will go wrong next especially with my luck.
Getting a bottle for this on the first. So what do you guys think I should fab up first? I was thinking something simple like rock sliders.
