Finally got my Hurst in!!

looks good, you may want a differnt knob come winter, that cast metal will be c-o-l-d! ive tried many different knobs but keep going back to the black hurst knob that came with my hurst.

I didn't get the standard knob, as I bought mine used and it already had the t-handle. I'll probably just deal with it. My steering wheel got pretty cold this last winter, and really hot during the few sunny days we've had so far. I even got to grab onto the nice HOT metal handle just a couple days after I put it in. If I do change knobs, it will most likely still be metal anyway, just back to a ball instead of a handle. I haven't decided yet.

I've got a hurst in my truck but I made an "adapter" so I could use
the stock boot and stock shift knob...

I cut off a stock shift lever "below the ring" that holds the shift boot up
after I drilled down from the top with a 5/16" drill bit (tap drill for 3/8" coarse thread)
then tapped it from the bottom after cutting it off.

This way I have the function of the Hurst but it's hidden.

You aren't kidding about the noises...

i thought about doing just that, but i wanted to be able to return my shifter back to stock when the day comes for it to be retired. if for no other reason than taking the hurst with me for the next ranger. i will say that after 2 years of use it isnt as noisy as it was new, or ive just gotton that used to it and dont recall how things were when stock. had to change my superboot last week. it tore arond the bottom pleat about halfway. dont know if was the operation in the last cold weather or the hardning of the rubber with age. i had a spare due to not knowing the hurst came with a boot and i had ordered a boot seperatly. the boot came first, shifter was on backorder (for 2-1/2 months) and when i got it and saw i didnt need to order a boot seperatly it was too late to send it back. ive armor-all'd the inside and out of the new boot, maybe i should do that as part of upkeep. it was a $30 boot if memory serves me correctly.
