So, I finally picked up my firestik KW4-BL and the hood channel mount. Took about 20 mins to install and route the coax. I can post pick of how I did it and a step by step guide if anyone wants. was very simple and took longer to unpack and tie up the coax then it did to install the mount.
Best part was that I screwed in the antenna into the mount and drove to a parking lot of a high school, about 75' from the closest car and power pole. Checked my SWR, and it is 1.1 at all channels
. Plugged in an external meter to make sure and it was the same. I did a radio check with some people that I always heard with my other antenna (wilson 1000 mag mount) and got a good check from them(these people are between 10 and 40 miles away).
I also got a Astatic 575-M6 from a friend for free

. This thing is so much better then my stock mic that came with my Cobra 148GTL(1991 Philli model none the less). This is the best $70 I have spent on radio gear for my truck and damned it was easy to do.
