alot of my posts lately have been about my brothers truck, just trying to get him in running order haha.

any ways when we bought the truck we knew it had rear quarter panel damage, he has the step side bed so its fiber glass.

the previous owner backed into a tree and the corner of the bumper crushed the bed a few inches below the tail light. its not that big of a spot but it seems to be getting worse.

we got it apraised at about a grand to fix. so we said f that we're going to learn to fiber glass.

we were thinking of getting one of those auto body repair kits specific to fiber glass we're not to worried about paint right now just get it to where the corner doesnt fall off due to daily driving.

anybody familiar with stepside body glass or repair kits?

thanks

If its a smallish repair yea just get the little kit with the resin, mat and activator. If there is nothing behind it i use that rattle type can of spray foam urethane. Just fill the area with it and let it expand and dry, then carve it off so its just a tad low then glass over it. My self most times though i just go with the foam for a backer and use Bondo- Hair, less fuss.

that or kitty hair or something similar. easier than working with the patch piece and all that junk. looks better for less time too.

Keep us up to date on what you have going.:icon_thumby:

Yeah, we were going to do this but haven't had the time, his tranny took a crap on him last week so we got a new one put in for the low price of 3100... I'm at school now so one weekend when I'm home to help we will get around to fiber glassing. Unless we can find a bed the same color as his. And just swap beds, that's what I'm hoping to do with mine also

Thanks for the update, been watching for it.:icon_thumby:

If it's the fiberglass stepside then you can grab just one side. They unbolt from the box.

Yeah I've seen the bedsides for 189 each online... They just unbolt from the box like he said ^^

yeah but if i get a bedside and just have it painted it would still cost like 500? where did you see them for that price? i looked on lmc they are like 400 there

I paid C$125.00 for two including lights and wiring harness at a local wrecking yard. One had slight damage but if I was wanting to I could have taken a side from two different colored trucks to make a pair.

yeah thats what we figured we would do anyways is just get another bedside and get it painted, but our junkyard being in memphis, they only get a few rangers one or two at a time, but i have exploders out the a$$.

IDK it was like a year or 2 ago that I saw it.
