Fiat 131 build

House is standard wood framed. I added the hoist and beams a couple years ago. Was about $600 in steel, hardware, etc. I knew I was going to removing and installing my Ranger Cab, bed, engine, etc. And I also knew I'd need to lift my whole Fiat up to put it on the rotisserie and chassis. It's paid off with how easy it is to move heavy things around. I even used it to unload my toolbox.

Here's some better shots of it. I used 5/8" anchor bolts in the concrete, and have the beams sitting on top of the 3 legs, with 6 1/2" bolts holding them together. The perpendicular beam it bolted to a 3/8" plate I welded on top of the main cross beam.

A standard 2 post lift would be nice, but the ceiling of my garage is too low.

How high is the ceiling in your garage?

What kind of hoist are you using?

Ceiling is just above 9'. A smaller lift would technically fit, but I couldn't stand under the car so that kind of defeats the purpose

The hoist is a Vestil 2G

Dash and foot rests. I'm trying to mimic the original cars, only with a modern head unit. I'll be using megasquirt EFI, fit which there's an Android app for which will be nice

What's the heater you're using there? I keep being lazy on mine - the lq4 has nipples on the water pump for a heater like that, but I haven't done anything with it. Most of the ones I've seen are package horizontally, but something vertical like that would probably fit my space better. Right now when it's cold I just have a dryer vent on the radiator that I have fed back through into the cabin. And a transmission heater

Love all the fab work, and the cardboard touch screen cracks me up

Thanks! And yeah having an actual piece of cardboard there makes mock up easier I think; it gives me an idea of where things will go.

That's a Jegs heater, which is really just a rebranded Maradyne one. If you're low on space, something like this from Old Air Products might work as well. I'm going to run some ducting up to the vents on the dash, along with some for defrosting the windshield.

I've been wondering but didn't want to ask. This is my favorite build on the site right now, just really solid fab work

Thanks man. I've had to slow down a bit on the build because it's getting hard to find parts, so I have been forced to go back and forth between bodywork, engine stuff, interior, etc, as I wait on parts for this or that. I should have my turbo and intake manifold done soon, so then I can run that plumbing, along with the exhauist, coolant lines, oil lines, etc
