This morning I walked out to start my recent addition to the garage, My 01 Cummins, i let the ole girl down by leavin the dome light on all night which obviously drained the batteries. I walked out to the trusty Danger Ranger (which I haven't started in 2 months or so) and sure enough she cranked first try. Drivin that truck today made me remember all the good times and why i'll never get rid of her. My priorities have altered...AGAIN...my focus up until my deployment will be back on my Ranger as well as whatever money i do make on my deployment.

Just felt like sharing, its put me in a good mood all day and i cant wait to drive her in the mornin.

That's awesome dude. Just make sure you come back safe to spend that money on the Ranger.

appreciate it! maybe i'll finally get to that SAS i've been plannin on for almost 4 years now lol

I didn't drive my Mazda for about a month. I kept thinking it was just another rig. Got in it and drove it then I realized how comfortable it is to drive. How nice the power band is. I like it alot compared to other rigs

Haaaa. Good one. But...would you hate the Ranger if you did not close a door all the way or the dome light switch was left on and the battery drained and it would not start? LOL. I started up my Sammie yesterday. It has been in storage for jut over 3 months and she fired right up. Having a great battery helps out a lot of course. That was a good feeling as well.

I walk past my Ranger every morning wishing the weather would straighten out so I could drive it again.

It isn't the best on slick and driving it in salt is counterproductive when I am trying to restore it so it is off the street for most of the winter.

I do circle the place "checking fence" with the Ranger about once a week to keep the battery up in case I find myself in your situation where for whatever reason the main dd takes a day off.

Heh, I guess I gotta get on this wagon now. I put some heat to the Ranger's boiler for the first time this year today. She has been a tad cold blooded since the 4.0 swap (I let the fellow at Napa talk me into the 160 t-stat for some dumb reason, and the rad cap was shot). Well I've been driving the BII because the heater works, and I gotta take the boy at least one way every day.

He's sick today, the wife stayed home, so I fired the old girl up and braved the sub-zero temps to spend some quality time with my first vehicle.

As soon as I get the head back on my Geo, I will be doing the head on Fred the friendly Ford. I enjoyed driving him until the event in August which necessitated a tow back home. After Fred is back running, it's the Jeep's turn.

Maybe I'll do the Jeep ahead of Fred since it's only the water pump and drivers side window track.

I first had a 1984 Ford Ranger 4x2. I got it from my grandparents when they upgraded to a 1988 Ford F-250 for pulling their larger travel trailer. My grandparents had used the Ranger up until 1989 to pull a 14' or 16' travel trailer (can't recall which size for certain). So once I got my driver's license a few years later, I was given the ranger. Well it ran great just leaked oil all over the place. At that time we still had a ford repair garage in town. So we took it there and had all the gaskets, seals, etc. replaced. That's when the trouble started. The shop started right off with breaking one of the mounting flanges off the carburetor, then tried to claim it was like that before they touched it. Finally got a new carburetor, got the truck back and it never ran right afterwards. To top that off they didn't tighten down the fuel line going into the carburetor so it was pouring gas all over the top of the engine (yeah real safe). Took it back, and the mechanic goes "oh that happens all the time", I said well as much as you guys charge for labor, a simple mistake like that could have cost me a truck if it caught on fire. Then after all that work was done, it would always run really hot, overheat, etc. Several thermostats later finally got it going pretty well again. Then winter came around, and the temperamental issues with the carburetor and choke and who knows what else started in. I'd start it up, it wouldn't run, get it going again, literally took 20 minutes to get it to run enough to get across town, drive it across town to school about 4 miles literally took 1/4 of a tank of gas. Finally got all that fixed thanks to the school's auto shop. Then short time later the issue was back again, never really figured out what the issue was, didn't know about TRS then. Anyhow I sold a damn near mint condition (exterior and interior wise) truck for $700. Since then I had been missing that truck, found my 84 Bronco 2, and along with finding TRS, has got me back on the road in an RBV. My B2 looks like crap, but I seriously enjoy driving it for some reason, the Rangers, and the Bronco 2's I have always enjoyed driving.

Dude, the game is musical chairs, not musical heads.

When you have coolant leak which shows in the exhaust, its time for gaskets. My youngest son found that out with his '89 2.9. The two of us fixed it and it is running great.
