Feels like binding in reverse (not brakes)

Got my A4LD back in my Ranger about 1.5 months ago. Have had no issues. Shifts better then ever really.
Went around town with no issues forward or reverse.
All of a sudden after sitting for an hour or two I go to back out of a parking space and while it goes into reverse fine I have to give it about half throttle to get it to move backward. Hard to explain but it feels like something is binding up since it feels very much engaged.
Pushing the truck forward and in reverse shows no binding. Also checked brakes for dragging (had that issue in the past) and they were fine.
I removed rear drive shaft to make it front wheel drive and test out reverse in 4high. Same issue.
Is it possible a loose transfer case chain on the BW1354E is binding somehow in reverse? It was suggested as a possible thing from a friend.
Any other thoughts on a possible cause? I've exhausted everything I can think of.

If I had to make a blind guess it'd be either a band or one of the pistons that engages the bands (or a piece of debris plugging a passage in the valve body affecting one of those parts), one is dragging on the forward direction while in reverse, probably not best to wait on that as it'll wear something out. A competent trans shop (not Aamco or generic commercial shop that just swaps transmissions) should be able to figure it out fairly easily. Fixing it might cost a couple hundred for a drain, filter and fill service and maybe 2 hours of time... In this day and age there's probably something on youtube going over the "servo" (the piston thing that pushes on the bands) and band adjustment on an A4LD... but if you're not up to attempting I would go to a shop...
