I read with interest the Sticky on Seats that bolt into the Ranger. Looks like the most findable are going to be the Temp and/or Escort seats.

Wondering if others have ditched the OEM seats and what did you find that is comfortable and works well??
I'm kinda tall at 6'2" and wide shoulders so the stocker is a backbender for me. Fixing this will make the Ranger my daily driver....So its worth whatever money because it will allow me to spruce up my Camry and sell it. :icon_thumby:

I used stock '87 Ranger STX seats, which are also the same as mustang and thunderbird seats (except they don't have headrests).

Pretty comfy, adjustable bolsters, and power lumbar (haven't wired it up yet though).

I like those ZMan...does the thigh part extend????

I've got long legs and most seats don't do justice for that area...long hauls tend to get very uncomforatable...gonna have to find a set now...:)

yeah that part does extend.

WoW !

yeah that part does extend.

Fantastic, Z :headbang:

For the rest of us cheapskates... how did you locate the seats, roundly what it cost, and how'd the install go? this is a MUST for me.....

Got mine out of a Thunderbird TurboCoupe at the junkyard.

$30 for both! :yahoo:

They were even the right color.

Installation is a snap.

The holes are already on the seat base, just not threaded. The seat mounting bolts are self-tapping, so just spray 'em with some lube (I used PB Blaster) and thread 'em into the correct holes.

unreal

Now I know what to ask of Santa Claus.... good grief those are gorgeous! I'm gettin' sleepy just lookin at them

I had the truck already, so I can't give you a straight answer on what I paid for them. I also reupholstered them myself. And CJREX is correct all the holes are there already, you just need to tap them for your trucks stock seat tracks.

Yeah I swapped a set of standard explorer buckets into my 88 ranger. You have to change the seat trax on the drivers side, the passenger side bolted in but I was using explorer sport seats so it may be different with a 4 door. I also put the console out of my explorer in the ranger as well. It really updates the interior and makes the chix dig ur truck :)

I might have to go to the junkyard after I get my beast to run. I hate the 60/40 Bench, it has no support whatsoever for my back.

exactly the reason for my swap i hated those 60-40s. I have a set of nice explorer buckets and console if ur interested.
