With spring FINALLY here, I was curious about some of my felow TRSer's favorite roads. Those hidden gems in your area that just lend themselves to driving.

A few of my favorites:

NH 112, better known as the Kangamagus. 33 miles though the White Mountain Nat'l forest. The road is well-maintained with good flow.

VT-100: Runs stright up the spine of Vermont. It passes through many small towns, including a stop in Jamaica.

VT-9 between Barttaleboro, VT & Wilmington, VT: It's windy, narrow, but has more beautiful curves and elevation changes that you can count. Just gotta watch out for the trucks.

US-302: The Kanc is to the south and 302 is to the north. It passes the grand Mt. Washington Hotel. Fun road. Great views.

NH-13 between Goffstown & New Boston, NH. It's about 5 miles of solid cuves along a small river. Short & sweet. Needs a repave though.

NH-121 & 121-A: Both are great roads & a favorite of motorcycles in the area.

South Bow Road in Bow, NH: This is a road I travel frequently. It has nice flow and can be taken faster than the 35 posted limit. 45 is good speed.

US-209 though the Delaware Water Gap: Took it as shortcut between Port Jervis, NY & I-80. You don't have to worry about the trucks, which makes it that much better. Great views & good flow. First drove it early one Sunday morning. The only vehicles I saw were a half-dozen motorcycles out for a morning ride. Too much fun.

Doesn't driving a Ranger negate the driving dynamics of such roads?

I know that when I had my Civic SI I loved finding nice roads like that though.

Unfortunately, here in Manitoba they are non-existent.

In an early Saab 900 Turbo The Merritt PArkway across Connecticut was a real laugh riot.

Not the way I drive.:icon_twisted: :3gears:

Makes people go...:shok: and :bawling: and sometimes even

Then I go :haha:

Oh yeah, and then the cops get all :pissedoff:

Hwy 101 up from brookings to coos bay, then cut over to Elkton, then back home in Roseburg. Good couple hours of driving, a freakin blast in my car...

On one section in my old subbie (the first time I drove that road) I was doing 80 and accelerating coming out of a corner into the stretch of fallen grade...

The road literally looks like a freakin motocross track, if you go faster than 65, you catch air.

I hit the stupid thing doing about 95 ( Didn't see how bad it was until I hit it) caught an assload of air, landed, swerved like crazy and slowed down to 55...

It was me and my buddies on a roadtrip, and my passengers got seasick from the ups and downs of that freakin road.

I don't drive that bad anymore btw... this was several years ago.

You don't know how to drive your Ranger then. It's not the vehicle, it's how the driver uses it!

Truth! When I still had my ranger on the street, I would be ripping through canyon roads passing people (3rd gear at 5 grand and I actually could... damn 3.0)... If you know your vehicle and the road, you can get places quick.

Didn't ric race his ranger in autox? I remember a pic of a white 2wd with mustang rims hard in a corner around a cone with the left front tire in the air... I think that was his...

Beautiful pic, I wanna see it again.

Edit:found em, sweet.

Very true. I've had friends riding shotgun in my Ranger bombing along back roads. Until they looked at the speedo, they didn't realize how fast I was going. They have complimented me on how smooth I was.

I said to a friend one day: "If you think this is fun, let me show you what your Corolla can do with me in the driver's seat!"

The access road to the Mountainview golf course in my home town, great road to test every aspect of a vehicle. I take any car I am looking at down it.

Or Miles Canyon road, great view, long sweepers and lots of elevation changes, plus part of it runs right along the river. Awesome to take the bike down.

me too! and listen to nothin but tires and exhaust....(both loud) the cops in my town go:nono:and i go:3gears::flipoff:

Yeah, my cops do that too..

Then I get all :icon_rofl: in their faces and they're all :bawling: because the cops here are all chicks (hot ones too)

Then I feel :sad:for making them :bawling: and so I take them out for a  and we get all :hottubfun:

You have mine covered in your post. I just did rt13 a couple of weeks ago since it have been many years since I had driven it

I live 5 min from one of the best roads in the country Tail of the Dragon or Deals Gap whichever you want to call it. 318 turns in 11 miles FTW!

@dsm08: It feels like I am reading a kids book where words are replaced with pictures.:icon_rofl:

But a much better book:D
