Farm and Garden

Having them built into the floor seems like an excellent Idea.

Here are a few I've seen build on a moveable base. Base is made from a truck rotor.

A couple bench mounts I've seen too.

I really enjoy my movable vice. It gets more use than the bench-mounted vice.

Here it is with a jig I made for working on motorcycle wheels.

I got a cold this week which is fun so progress is slow... yesterday I took a few minutes and twisted the bar, I measured it and it is 5/8" by 2.5" so it took some doing... of course I cheated with the O/A torch and 3' pipe wrench pulled with 2" ratchet straps... now it's a bit wavy but the ball is much closer to where it is supposed to be so good enough...

the receiver on a rotor is a decent idea, might have to do that...

Ducks are a giant hassle. Unless you have a large pond or stream on your property I wouldn't bother. They make a big mess, they will eat all your flowers and vegetables, and they are very stubborn. Mine do not want to go into the house at night, they need to be herded.

Our chickens are way harder on my wife's flowers than the ducks. Heck, they actually ran the barncats off last year lol.

There is a brief window about dusk the ducks naturally go in the chickenhouse and you can shut them in. Once it actually gets dark ours want to hunt bugs under the yardlight all night long.

Mine want to sleep in the pool even if it's below freezing. Then they go in the chicken house and get everything wet.

If I had a pond or steam I could let the ducks in I'm sure it would be easier, but I got to keep a kiddy pool for them.

The one thing I will say about the ducks, I like their eggs way better then any chicken eggs I've had.

Saw the neighbor out a couple weeks ago and we got to talking and working on the Ferguson. Got it to fire on starting fluid but the carb wasn’t working, so I cleaned it up some, but it’s still not working right. Probably gonna have to replace it. Also my new sediment bowl doesn’t completely shut off the fuel for some reason.

Trying not to muddy this thread with my shop shenanigan's but I got the disc half together now, both rear gangs have cleaned up bearings and are all bolted up... If everything goes decent I should have it done tomorrow, not sure the ground will be dry enough to try, maybe next weekend...

Alright, my headache of a hot rod snow blower build is DONE!* (*apart from trimming belt cover a bit)

I swear.... manufacturers put too small of motors on too many inches of bucket width for an ideal experience.

24" blowers get 5hp, 28-30" models will have 8hp, and the 32"+ models will have 12hp... not enough in my experience/opinion. Increase those figures by 3hp and it's a MUCH more user friendly rig. While snowblowing is infinitely easier than shoveling.. it's super aggravating when the blower can't keep up without bogging.. requiring you to back off the drive lever every few feet for it to catch up.. go forward a few feet.. stop.. forward a few feet.. stop.... GAAAHHHHHHH!!

Snowblowers need enough power to be able to EAT a full bucket without backing off the drive when it's in low gear. I THINK my new power/width ratio will do the trick... well see! It's starting to snow now, but it's warming up and will be rain by morning.. making a huge mess.

Hopefully we get a good 20+" storm of packable snow before the end of the year so I can really get a good feel of how she does.

I'll say that even an underpowered snowblower beats the hell out of shovel work.

You also have just pushed every other component past its design limits.

I think you have a 50/50 chance you pushed the rest of the machine past its limits.
