We lost a another Pearl Harbor hero today with the passing of John Finn aged 100. A truly remarkable hero in a tragic attack on the Naval base at Pearl with a long honorable career in the United States Navy. Farewell LT and thank you for your service. Fair winds and following seas.

I'm sorry to hear that. The Austin American Statesman paper has all the Veteran's b-days in it every weekend. I just hope that today's peeps appreciate what the "greatest generation" have done for us. I get to go to Guezburg Germamy in two weeks for work. -- the home town of Dr. Mengele. NICE

I truly believe that the worst tragedy of our generation will be the loss of memories and wisdom of those who fought the Great Wars of the early 20th Century. I have had the honor to meet and know several people who either fought in one of the World Wars and/or Korea, or who lived through it here at home, and I have learned that they have a unique view of the world and a wisdom that few who haven't experienced such wide spread destruction and loss can ever have. That wisdom may well have also been what has keep the world at large in relative peace for the last 40 years (not trying to down-play the conflicts that have happened during that time, but they were not as wide spread as WWI and II) and I fear that when we lose what they have learned that we may be doomed to repeat the mistakes of their fathers.

Thank you for your service Lt. Good luck and God speed.

+100,000,000 ADSM My dad was fortuate to be right in between WWII and Korea - he served on a destroyer (tried to get on a sub - better pay) I thank God he never saw action and he's still around.

Our greatest generation is still to come. If it's not, we are doomed. But the Will-gauge says it is.

Many species of Homo something or other have failed. The threats to our species are ahead. We salute the passing of the old, then our energy is best used in looking forward.

My family has been warriors against the enemies of this country since the Civil War. They did their duty, and were proud of it. But they did not see themselves as the greatest generation. That is a label applied by a TV reporter. Reality tells us that there will be one more major conflict to unite Homo Sapien Sapien, and then a struggle to preserve the species from the forces of nature. We will need greater people than we had 60 years ago.

Raise them. It is your genetic duty.

My grandfather was a WWII vet but diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease before I was born. I wish he could have shared some of his stories and insight to me more than anything.

God Bless the Navy!!!!!! Flinn, is the Hero!!!! RIP, fellow veteran.
