I found a nice set of tan door panels out of an Eddie Bauer BII last Saturday, they are the full ones that wrap around the top of the door. My truck just has the vinyl insert style ones in it now.

How do the "nicer" ones work with the window scraper gasket? I don't remember any gasket when I pulled them and they don't look like the window ran against them...

It should have a gasket on it already, usually stapled to it. As least on mine it did, some of the older ones might not have them, just have the material of the panel rub against the glass.

I will try to get pics tomorrow, it looks like it goes between the weatherstripping and the door. I don't know if there will be enough room for the window to pass between the two scrapers with the door panel pushing them together though.

There is nothing for the window to run on other than the fabric that covers the whole panel that wraps around the shell.

They look like this though:

Those use the inner scraper mounted in the door just like your current door panels do. Now as for how exactly they match up with them I can't say, didn't remove them myself. I bought them from another forum member, because they don't seem to exist in the state of GA.

Luckily you were able to find tan that matches your interior. I only found red ones before I eventually bought mine. Now I gotta get these re-upholstered to match my blue interior. About a month after I bought my set I saw a blue pair pop up on one of the forums, but it was too late then. It's cool though cause I think I'm going to have the chrome trim removed and re-upholster then with a blue/silver pattern to match the exterior of the truck.

Thanks :icon_thumby:

Anybody have any tricks for removing the scrapers? I just changed them a couple years ago and they were a bugger to put in, I really don't want to mess up my fairly new ones.

I have found tons of red and blue, I had doubts about dying them to a lighter color like tan so I just kept looking. The tops of these are faded and I found a dye that matches the interior trim perfectly so I do think I will redye them.

I was looking at a set of those for my truck but wasn't sure if I could get them in...I like them because the vinyl one on my driver door is shredded and needs to be replaced...

Not sure about the wipers...never tried to change them but mine are also in a sad state of affairs...I sprayed them last year with silicone and they loosened up a bit but they are still chewed up from years of wear and tear...

Lurk around JY's and watch for a set to pop up, it took me a year. If you are in the Omaha area I do know as of last weekend they had yet another EB BII there that had a set that was maybe a little nicer than the ones I have.

man i wish i was around Omaha because i would go get them :( around hear they r just the flat ones every where :( to bad i cant get some one to get them for me

Just as a side note, silicone naturally dry rots rubber, so i wouldnt do that anymore if i were you.

Its funny all you guys are wanting to upgrade to these door panels, I went the other way on my truck, i wanted that painted portion of the door to be exposed.

I don't really WANT to change them, but finding the plain ones without the vinyl dried out and cracked is really hard to do.

And it is going to be nice not having hot steel window sills to rest my arm on. :yahoo:

:icon_rofl: That used to drive me nuts with my Tempo...they were chrome and me, forgetting they'd been baking in the sun all day, putting my arm on them and then going YEOOWCH...I ended up painting them flat black which seemed to make a small difference in their boiling point...
