Hey guys.

When doing this swap I've found I don't have clearance to run the electric fan Inside the engine compartment so it looks like I have to mount it outside out front.

So my question is, for those of you who cut out the rad support main vertical piece in the middle of the support that also seems to support the hood latch, did you have any issues with the hood securing after you did that? Did you have to remove the good latch as a whole?

I need the space for at least a 16" fan out front

i cut mine but i have hood pins to hold the hold down. i removed mine to get the motor in and out easy.

my 1st preference is to relocate the radiator forward and run a fat bastard electric fan.

any time you modify the center support you need to beef it up in some way, if you choose to remove the center bar, beef it up a bit with some tie in bracketry for support. make an x style past the taper of the fan etc.

How many cfm and what size fan? What's the measurement from the water pump to the rad?

Is that a stock 302? That looks like a victor jr intake and edelbrock heads?

its a 12 inch 1550 cfm fan. i have the motor out so i cant tell you the measurement. the motor is a 347 in that picture i was tring pro comp heads (junk heads). best pass with pro comp head was a 13.03@96 mph. yes that is a victor jr intake. i went to the dart pro 1 heads and the motor made over 500 hp on eng dyno

That fan is a bit small at 1550 cfm for your motor . . . They recommend a 2500 cfm fan for small blocks , not to mention your not stock.

I found some 11" fans that do about 1100 each so 2200cfm. I think that is where j may have to start and go from there.

the truck is a race truck only. so when its running it does not run that long. i was thinking about doing a fan shroud. i had a fan that was more cfm but i could not get it to go on. the fan thats on it now is a thin fan.

Here's a pic of mine. My hood latch is fully functional and the hood stays closed. Radiator cap does NOT hit the hood either.
