Fan Clutch Std or HD?

The mechanical fan rotating slightly with the clutch disengaged will not be a problem at all! If it was, a vehicle would have a serious heating problem going down the road traveling 60MPH, at below zero temps!!

Again, the e-fan has no advantage here!!!

HI!... That's your opinion and many. many others will disagree with you. :icon_thumby:

GET THE HEAVY DUTY MECHANICAL CLUTCH INSTEAD OF THE LIGHT DUTY ONE.

As for e-fan...
I am NOT happy with mine...
1/4 mile times cannot be compared with two hours winching and idling in the swamp, then watching you e-fan control wiring meltdown.
Lost the radiator too when the fan stopped.

HI!... Well you must of been using a cheap fan controller then. My buddy JMC has two electric fans on his F-150 with a 10,000LB WARN winch. He has no issues winching or over heating. He luvs his electric fans. So do all the other 4x4 guys around here. 90% of them run electric fans.

HI!... If I had no life I could run around the net and search for the same articles for electric fans. Your point? I'm still running them and still getting the gains everyone here says I wouldn't.................:icon_rofl:

As for reliable.. hmmm explain that to a buddy of ours wife that had to bury her husband after a clutch fan aluminum blade snapped off while working on his car in the garage and half decapitated him. Yay for reliability. :icon_thumby:

HI!... You guys can argue with me until your blue in the face. You will NEVER convince me that a clutch fan is superior. It just won't happen because it simple isn't. I luv my electric fans, everyone around here in our hot rod community luvs their electric fans, the 4X4 guys around here luv their electric fans, the drag racers around here luv their electrics fans. Don't worry, you guys will eventually catch up, if not you'll be left behind.

It's your vehicle, do what you want with it. I and many others choose to go with electric fans. Other don't. Just don't come on here saying that electric fans are worthless when they are 100% not. That has been proven over and over again throughout the years. Open your eyes. :icon_thumby:

How many instances do you want me to post on people that have been scalded from boiling coolant due to e-fan mal-functions??? Along with this,
the number of engines that have had to be replaced!!

Where are they????? So far you seem to be the only one!!!!

Once again, you have ZERO PROOF to back you up!!!

HI!... I'm the only one? LOL! If I wouldn't piss people off by posting PM's, I would post them. Since this thread started I have received about 40 PM's from people making fun of you (BOB) and that arguing with you is like arguing with a rock. Some say you would argue with GOD himself. I've brought this topic up on other boards and people like you would get laughed right off the board. This is the only site I have ever been on that supports a clutch fan. It simply amazes me. It really does. :icon_confused:

STILL, ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF TO BACK YOU UP!!!!!!!

....How many dragsters have you seen that will run 100K miles????:icon_confused::icon_confused:

HI!... Well mabey it's because us Canadians are just smarter I guess. lol! I could name like 50 people over the years that have had problems, injuries, and failures due to mechanical and clutch fans. Your point?

HI!... Still waiting for your proof also?????? You've just post nonesense.......

It's funny how my buddies dad just bought a new CHEVY pickup and it has a electric fan on it standard.

hmmmmmmm.

My F-150 has over 200,000K running with electric fans, buddies 94 F-150 has 350,000K with electric fans running strong, other buddies 2000 F-150 has 220,000K with electric fans running strong. etc......

Chevy?????? What a laugh!!!!! A Yugo has an e-fan too!!!:headbang::headbang:

But if you check, if you buy a towing package on the Chevy, they put a mechanical fan on it!!!!

And check out Duramax......mechanical fan/clutch!!!

HI!... Ah BOB or is that what you do? HMMMMMM:icon_rofl:

Well I guess the RANGER crowd on this site ain't up to speed on electric fan conversions yet. The F-150 crowd have been doing it for over 10 years now and getting great results. I've done it with my Ranger and am getting great results. hmmmmmm. But of coarse bolt ons don't work and I should leave my truck completely stock because it came perfect from the factory.......:thefinger:

I'll be sure to let you guys know when I go 13's in N/A trim with my Ranger this spring. :icon_thumby:... and get great MPG on the 2 hour drive to the dragstrip.

been scalded from boiling coolant due to e-fan mal-functions

ive been there, i got the shirt. it sucks.

Well every vehicle I have owned, the clutch fan spins at idle, even when it's cold. It might not spin at full RPM with the engine but it is spinning enough to take your finger off if you put it in the fan shroud.

a disengaged fan clutch is freewheeling. the only thing spinning the fan is the drag on the support bearing. you can stop it with your bare hand (but dont try, i dont want you to bruise your delicate fingers).

which brings me to another point. you can hold a disengaged clutch fan stationary with one finger. how much horsepower does one finger produce? ill give you a hint: not much. this means when a clutch fan is unclutched (such as traveling down the freeway or when the motor is cold), the parasetic draw is the equivilent to one finger trying to stop the motor. that is a negligable amount at best. this means power and fuel economy will be the same as it would be if the clutch and fan were completely removed from the vehicle.

are you starting to understand how hard it is to be more efficient than a properly functioning clutch fan?
