ive changed the belt.sprayed on prestone stop sqeak stuff and still cant get that noise 2 go away.anyone have this problem?:icon_confused:

we had another similar thread to this earlier, i think everyone recommended changing/checking the tensioner.

YES!! It was finally the tensioner!!! I had multiple problems, a mis-printed belt for one. It would still squeek when it finally warmed up here. Look down at your tensioner and see if one side is closer to the block than the other. (it will be subtle)

I chased a similiar problem with my old 2.3, ended up being the tensioner, pain in the backside.....

First of all, to make sure it is the fan belt, I'd take it off and start the truck. If it squeaks, your cam synchro is probably close to going out and you should replace that as soon as possible. If it doesn't squeak, then you know that it's something belt driven.

Try taking the belt off (again) and rotating all of your pulleys by hand. See if anyone of them squeak or have play in them, as they'll most likely be your culprit. Your Tensioner assembly is most likely wearing out, which means that the belt isn't getting the tension it needs. I'd go ahead and replace the whole Tensioner assembly and Idler pulley, along with a new belt, just for safe measure.

I have a similar problem that has turned into a horrifying banshee's screetch from under the hood. When it first appeared I had replaced the belt, that worked for a little while. When it reappeared I replaced the belt and the idler pulley (the idler because the sound definately came from there) and that worked for almost exactly 24 hours before starting up again. I have started the engine without the belt on so I'm sure its not the cam sensor, and just recently I have replaced the tensioner pulley. That didn't even pretend to fix it and now it is squeling with a vengence... It sounds like its coming from the neighborhood of the ac and power steering pumps but when the belt is off and I spin the pulleys NOTHING squeeks!!! My mind is baffled and I'm running out of ideas, anybody else have any?:icon_confused::pissedoff:

mine sounds like its coming from the same area as farranger1999's is.

i might buy a belt for a 3.0 w/o AC and see if that fixes it tell summer.
