First some info on my ranger. 1993 ext cab 4x4, manual 5spd 4.0 v6, manual transfer case. I bought the truck used and it has 235/75/15 tires on it. To me they look too small but that just me be my opinion. I've also noticed that the speedo is inaccurate, like the tires are too small. When I look for tires, all the online venders show that the biggest tire they come up with is a 235/75/15 for my ranger. Weird thing is, I happened to notice the vin tag on the drivers door, and it shows a tire size of 265/75/15. Did some rangers actually come with tires that big? Thats almost 2" taller than the 235's, near 31". I'm not looking for a big lift or huge tires, just want tires that fit well.

235's and 265's were both available from the factory. if your door tag says 265, then that explains why your speedo is off.

Yeah...go off the door tag.

Ya, 265s and 31's are the same size. Thats what mine came with stock, had no rubbing issues on it either.

Okay, thanks! Now I gotta go tire shopping.

Dang, how far off is your speedo? I was thinking of putting 265s on my Sport.

his speedo is off because he DOESNT have 265's on. once he puts them on, it will be correct again.

if your truck came from the factory with a different tire size, then it would be off after changing to a 265. either way, the speedo can be calibrated for tire and gear chances.
