fabtech 2.5 help? my first install.

LOL yay broken pics! The way bump stops usually work is to stop up travel, but the factory ones are still used for that. The fabtech ones are designed to stop it from over extending which is a bad design and pulls apart that upper ball joint. Here's a non broken shot from when I first put it on that truck (which is now all broken :) whole other story)

ooo i got ya, that does look like a bad idea, id stick with limit straps that use the frame as strength and the lower control arm

so if i've got this right the picture shows the fabtech bumpstops right? i' shouldnt use them because stress is put on the b.j's, so use limit straps.
where do they bolt up to? and what size should i use? i found them 6"-25"+ do you have a pic of how yours are set up?
im out of funds, just paid two tickets. can stock shocks be use or is it not worth it?

thats how limit straps work, you weld or bolt them to the coil bucket and lower control arm. not my truck btw just random google image

thanks, looks easy enough. what size do yall recomend, i was thinking 6" would be sufficient. :icon_cheers: i just ordered procomp es3000 shocks that are good for 2-3 inches of lift. should be here by the 14th.

Is there any way you could post up some info regarding the shocks you ordered for the front, like part #'s and extended/collapsed lengths? I'm planning on putting together a similar setup for my '06 b2300 and need to figure out what shocks to run up front.

The rear will be easy as I'm planning to run Belltech 6400 shackles and KYB monomax shocks meant for a 4wd or Edge model (2" lift). Up front, I'll be using the Fabtech UCA's and 2.5" coils w/ 1" uniballs, Moog lower ball joints and TRE's, stock bump stops w/ limiting straps and would prefer to use Monomax's up front as well. I'm still debating on whether or not to use shock stud to eyelet converters/extensions with a slightly longer shock or just go with longer stud-mount shocks. If I could get some measurements on what others are running, I could possibly track down a Monomax p/n that would work up front, with or without the eyelet mount conversion. Thanks in advance and good luck with the build!

thanks. 318515EXP this is the part number from stylintrucks.com it was 77.98 for the 2 shocks.
i dont have any of the specs, but when they get here im sure i they might have the specs listed with them. ill let you know.
as far as your build, i hope you get everything the way you want it. how are you going to modify the fabtech ucas for uniball, as they come with the uniball.

Thanks for the reply! I thought the Fabtech UCA's came w/ preinstalled uni-balls? I was also looking at the doetsch-tech UCA's, and even emailed them to see If I could order them seperately from the rest of the lift kit (5 or 6" I think) for use with 2.5-3" lift coils, but never got a response.

As for shocks, I found a chart (also on the doetsch site) with the extended/collapsed lengths of all their shocks. I took the measurements from (front) OEM replacement shocks (13.71 ext/9.5 coll) and went from there, looking up units in the 17.5-18.5"/11.5" range. I'll look up the specs on those procomp p/n's and see if I'm on the right track. Thanks again and good luck!

*edit* I just checked the ext/coll lengths on the procomp es3000 you'll be using (p/n 318515) and they came in right around 18.5"/11.5", so it looks like I was on the right track. Thanks again for the part number. Now I have to decide between them, the Doetsch-tech dt3000's anf the Pre-runners.

fabtech ucas and doestch ucas are both balljoints, camburg has uniballs on their ucas, but u need their spindle or modify a stock one

i appreciate you sharing the specs, i am actually in va right now visiting family for the next week or so but when i get back it shouldnt take long to get the suspension on. if you havent gotten your parts yet ill let you know how the shocks work out to give you a lil better idea of what theyll be like.
