I have an 84 ranger 4x4 with an axle code of F62.I think it is probably a 3.73 with traction lock but dont know why it has a 3 digit code as none of my books say anything about it.I am assuming it has something to do with the front axle.Anyone got any idea why there is an extra number?

F6 is 3.73 limited slip 7.5". The "2" on the end signifies a limited slip front (D28).

I am in rust country so the axle tag was gone probably after 5 years. The ratio I was sure 3.73 but the digit 2 I did wonder if that meant the front was limited slip also.It is just a plain jane 4x4 so I figured they would have skipped on that plus no books list the 3 digit codes.Only 1 other time I have seen that and it was in a bronco 2.Thanks for clearing that one up.
