Hey ranger station, I'm starting to collect parts for a SAS and my girlfriends grandpa said I can take the axles off his 86 F250 diesel that's 4x4 :yahoo: . It quit running right and he gave up on trying to fix it so I was wondering what I should strip off of the ol' gal if I do decide to take it. I will take the axles and leafs and steering for sure, but would the steering box and t case be something I could use too? And it's all manual everything, hubs and t case and 4speed trans. Thanks for your info.

Kyle

Seeing as it is a TTB front truck it doesn't have a solid axle under it....

I would get the 86 running right and drive her if he is willing to give it to you.

Thats not particularly true... you could order them in straight axles.
My dad bought a 1997 F250 7.3 diesel, he ordered it from idaho with a leaf sprung straight axle up front. So there is a slim chance

Yes, it is very much so true.

1980-1985 F350/F250: high pinion TTB dana 50, no D60 solid option.

1986-1991.5 F350: solid high pinion dana 60, king pins, 35 spline inners, 30 spline outters, internally splined lockout hubs

1992 - 1997 F350 solid high pinion dana 60, ball joints, 35 spline inners, 30 spline outters, internally splined lockout hubs

All f250 diesels got the d50 TTB, gassers got the d44HD TTB.

I'm 100% sure it's a strait axle, it's the same as my one ton. I'll double check tomorrow. I don't really have a use for it because I already have a 1 ton for towing and this thing would need some work. My rig is in pretty good shape. But I've been itching to for the last year to build a truck that will go anywhere, not necessarily through mud and lakes but if there's 2 feet of snow ill have no worries. It will be a sloe build and all but I was curious what all I could use from this truck, if not ill get my 90 f150 for parts, just need a half ton front axle. The 250 would be cheaper considering I'd have both axles.

If it is, someone swapped it.

It never left the factory that way.

Dont need the truck, send it my way, I need another vehicle :D

My dad has a 1986 F250 that is running a Leaf sprung TTB on it. he got i tfrom my moms cousin who has had it for a few years so we have no clue on everything other then prior to my dad getting it, it was poorly maintained and well abused.
