I bought an F250 that was used as a salt & snow plow truck. Lots of rust including a dipstick tube (and dipstick) that was rusted into two pieces. It was like something out of a comedy when I pulled the stick the first time and a partial tube and stick came out rusted together.

Anyway I got the old tube out fairly easily. But now I can't get the new tube in!
I've pried on it, tapped the top with a hammer, but I can't get it to budge. It needs to drop into the hole about another half inch or so to be seated. Any tips on getting the thing to move?
There is very little room to maneuver with this engine. It's right behind the oil filter housing.

Also the new tube did not include a rubber o-ring, and the old didn't have one either. Could there be something in the hole blocking it? The old piece doesn't look broken, and the piece that sets in the pan looks pristine.

Side note: The old oil looked like black gold, Texas tea, and had about 2 quarts!
I got it changed, but I'll be damned if I didn't get 5W-30. It calls for 5W-20.
Will that cause a major problem?

Dipstick is probably pressed in somehow im guessing. Not real familar with tritons.

Also the 5w30 would be fine but id be very concerned about how far and hard it waa ran with 2qts in it.

You could try putting the tube in the freezer. That will cause the metal to contract some. That method has been used to make pressed in bearing installation easier.
