Ive got 2 broke on my 96. My question is how far back (year wise) can i go for springs? Scrounging through yards 92-96 4x4's seem to be in short supply. Byt 80-91 and 73-79's seem to be somewhat plentiful.

Im gonna replace the whole pack.

Help?

make sure u pull them from the 4x4, heard that generation they where different width.they talk about it HERE

always could try a f-250 350 maybe, i would just measure, beleave the f-350 leaves are good till 96

the FS bronco leaves are the same

basically 80-96 is you best bet 4x4 f150 or bronco

would check on the 250 and 350 as an alternative

I thought about Light duty 3\4ton springs but I heard there different lengths.

My buddy has a set but there 5 leafs....and im not sure if im going to change the whole pack or not....i got 4 thick leafs instead of 5 thin ones.

So 80-96? 4x4 only. Bronco's ok?

Two thing come to mind:
1- If the main leaves aren't broke you don't want to change them if you don't have to, A major pain in the rectum!
2- factory leaf springs in those years are really soft, Adding leaves would be an improvement.

I pulled a set from a 87-91 3\4ton 4x4. There 3 inch springs. Im thinking about getting longer U\Center bolts and using the extra leaf and i would basically end up with a 3\4ton. Mine only had 4 as opposed to 5 on the 3\4.

thanks.

The 3/4 ton springs may also be a thicker material, they usually are.
I would just cut the eyes off the 3/4 ton mains and install the whole spring under the 1/2 ton main. (new center bolts required). It'll be stiff but, It will haul anything the axle shafts can handle.

They look to be the same thickness.....

I did the same thing to my '89. It sits with a little rake to it. I've had six junk motors in the back and the truck sat nice and level.

How much harder did it ride?

The truck is my daily driver and i dont mind it riding a little rough....but i dont want it to ride like a freight train like my 78.
