F150 alternator question

Wasn't sure where to post this one, too many choices- moderators feel free to move it. F150 still charging but with bad bearings so I replaced it with three crappy rebuilds, none of which worked. Finally got the customer to buy a motorcraft and it still doesn't charge... is there a fuse or something inline that has tripped or did I really get four bad rebuilds in a row?

There is a fuse that could have blown that would do that, there is also a possibility that the wire that gives the alternator its initial start up charge is broken.

The little wire you speak of is the single one? (There's one single, then a connector of three). I'll check the fuses tomorrow, thanks.

You, sir were correct. Damn thing blew a 20 amp fuse, but it was in a hidden fuse holder on the firewall, All is well and it is charging away... thanks!

I've seen that a few times. Alternator goes out, pulls a surge on that circuit and takes the fuse with it. It's usually when they start to overcharge.

I'm not sure which wire it is on that truck, it changes from model to model and year to year.
