F Series Shifter on a Ranger M5OD-R1

I am looking to get the differences in shifters length from a F Series to a Ranger / Explorer.
The Ranger / Explorer shifter is about 16 inches long measured from the floor on my 92 Explorer. I bought a 94 Ranger SC 4X4 with a blown up M5R1, low oil and it needs serous dental work on the input gear. The truck is missing the shifter and some other parts the the transmission shop threw out after the previous owner didn't want to repair it there. I have a extra transmission out of a 2wd 96 Explorer that I am going to swap main shafts and gears with the Rangers case. The 96 shifter stub is slightly longer than the 94 Ranger and the 96 top cover doesn't have the neutral sense switch in it. I only need that switch for setting up a safe operating remote start, so I will use the 94 case and top cover.
My question is what year F series shifters will fit the older design front to back pinch bolt shifter stub and how much longer are the shifters. I have some right side shoulder issues and would like to find or make a longer shifter to make it a little easier to shift.
The scrap yards around here are a pain to work with and just want to know what year vehicle your working on when looking up parts.
