If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
97 F-150 4x4 with 4.6L and auto

My dad's F-150 sat for about 6 months because of blown spider gears in the rear end, I had to put it in 4wd and pull the drive shaft to get it home 6 months ago. he just sent it off to get the rear end fixed and it came back stuck in 4hi and none of the power stuff works ...... A/C. Cruise, windows, radio......... nothing works, all fuses good. the Transfer case is the electric one. A new battery was put in Friday because the old one was dead as a door nail and the original one from 1997.

now my dad says that the mechanic did no welding on it..... I am at a loss ..... it is stuck in 4hi, wont shift to low and wont shift to 2wd and none of the accessories work. come to think of it the panel lights weak and the turn signals don't flash but the headlights come on strong...... had the alternator tested and it tested good and the battery is new and starts the engine with no problems. what ever the problem is it seems to be with the accessories only and does not affect engine management. checked the ground on the 3 fuse and relay boxes I could fiind.

Check the ECM fuse in the PDB (Power distribution box). I seen a 98 Do something similiar one time and it was that fuse. If by some weird chance the fuse didnt blow then it may be the ECM itself.

Dustin

Put your key at ON and check with a test light if you have "+" on both pin of the fuse.Check the fuse inside the cabs, in the power distribution and the 2 big ones(175 Amp) on right rear of engine compartiment. If you hav + on both pin the fuse is OK, + on one pin: a blown fuse. Note the fuse that you don't have + on both pin. Whith the wiring diagrams it will be easier to find the trouble. Give us your result

I'll check that. thank you. may not have to worry about it, the dealership that fixed it says that they will trouble shoot it for free because all that stuff was working when it went in. My dad is even entertaining the Idea of trading it in on a 2005 F-250 with a V10.

The fuse your looking for his under the hood like rusty said. Look at your manual and read what each one does. I lost my tail lights, parking lights and dash lights and it was a fuse under the hood.
