While working on a 87 Ford ranger today changing out the fuelpump (high pressure pump in the frame rail) . I thought I had all the fuel pressure released ...but I was mistaken.
When I disconnected the fuel line, fuel sprayed all over the place.
I verbally said some not so plesent words as I slid out from under the truck.
I had unleaded gas all over my head and face. Now I have had gas on me before, I have even had some in my mouth before when siphoning. But what happened was something new to me.

I had some fuel in my right eye... and yes it stung! But what got my attention was the fuel that sprayed into my right ear. Yes it went deep into my ear canal!
It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced! It happened 6 hours ago and still hurts.
feels like a chemical burn inside my ear...and my throat is sore.

I ran inside once i realised my ear really started burning, and ran water in the kitchen faucet into my ear for about 20 minutes.
Then I went and took a shower.
Don't ever put unleaded in a ear ...unless you are tortureing Someone ..
i tell you something... If they used that at gimto...we would get all the info we wanted...LOL

Bad thing is as you know the ear is connected to the sinus, eyes, and throat on the inside somewhere...and it affected them all.
LOL. Hurt...bad....pain.. WOW.

almost made me cry.....almost.

Figured I would post this as a example of WHAT NOT TO DO!!!

Well.... When I saw the title I was thinking it'd be adsm...

I don't play with pressurized stuff without checking after taking a hydraulic hose off a forklift without releasing pressure, yeah that turned out bad.

Ok, so...

Note to self:

Self,

Do not put gasoline in your ears because it hurts.

Signed,

Self.

Yes, I stopped sliding down razors and landing in iodine...burts like a hitch...

Which is why I wrap a rag around the line and fitting when I pull it apart...

And why I am seriously considering modifications to an easier to change fuel filter system. I saw some info on it around here awhile ago and looked into it only to find that it would run me around $70 to do it and never got any farther along with the idea.

Well.... When I saw the title I was thinking it'd be adsm...

Nope, didn't hurt myself today. And I haven't ever gotten gas in my ear before.

I hope that Mark88 doesn't read this thread...........

there's no telling where he has gas/got gas/ induced gas/relaeased gas....

:icon_rofl:

As the saying goes "You're gas is as good as mine"...or is that guess? I guess your gas is a good as mine...ah!

"I stand correktid".................................................. :annoyed:

I actually did the same thing on my 87 when I first got it. I thought I relieved the pressure but I obviously didn't....I was home alone, blinded with a garden hose flushing my eyes.

I learned a lesson that day. Check, then check again, and again to make sure theres no pressure, lol.
