Transmission
Automatic
Im new to the forums and in need for some help. I have a 96 2.3 ranger with automatic transmission. I swaped out the transmission but forgot to take the harness off before I turned it into the parts place. Didnt realize the trans they gave me had a grey square plug that goes into the main harness. My grey plug it round. Parts place already sent the trans away and on other junkyard have that peice. Does anyone know where i can get this harness? I looked on ebay, craigslist, and even called the dealer which they said they stop making that harness. Is it posiable to hard wire the wires? But i not sure if the wires would match up. Thanks.

try finding wiring diagrams for each transmission on the web or library.....so you'll know which wires match up...then you can eliminate the two mismatched connectors...that's what i had to do to put a chevy A/T in my Ranger

Im a V.A lab rat too! Iraq-03-04, Afganistan 10-11. I was acutally hoping to find the harness before cuting some wires. Thats gonna be my last resort right now. Finding a diagram throught the web is gonna be difficult. every time i type 4r44e i get all kinds of other things that im not looking for. but imma keep seaching though.

What all models does the 96 2.3 ranger trans (4r44e) is compatiable too? I may stop asking for a ranger and ask to see the harness to these vechicals.

Congratulations....well....that's probably not the BEST word considering everything............How about THANKS FOR SERVING!

Anyhow....you might be able to find an aftermarket connector from NAPA/Advance/etc...that's what I did...

as for which wires connect to each other.....library--automotive section (since the web is running you in circles....)

or wait for a REAL mechanic to reply....they can tell you how to connect anything

(doorgunners don't know nothin bout wiring) ;missingteeth;
