I have a bully dog remote start system and i absolutely LOVE having it. Only problem is the range on the thing sucks. For example, i have to be within 10 steps of the truck to crank it and that sort of defeats the purpose of the unit. i was thinking about disconnecting my radio antenna (ipod ftw) and tying into that with the original wire. anyone have any other ideas? im not looking to crank it from a mile away, im just wanting it to crank without needing to put on pants and walk outside

Try holding the remote under and against your chin when you push the button and see if that works. Depending on the type and brand, they may have other options to help out.

haha^^^ where is the reciever antenna located now? I have an el-cheapo ready-start from farm and fleet that I can start the truck clear across our jobsite (700 feet). My antenna sits above the rear view mirror on the windshield.

Lol, yeah I already do the under the chin method, and thats the only way I can start the truck from anymore than 20ft away.

They gave me the shortest antenna wire I have ever seen. I have the unit mounted underneath the dash, just behind the parking brake and the antenna only makes it to about the top of the dash running through the A-pillar. I was thinking about just adding a butt connector and running the same gauge wire up the entire a-pillar and across the top of the roof. I'm just not well learned in the art of antennas, so I don't know if theres special kinds of wire to use. To be fully honest, it looks like it is just regular stranded wire that they are using.

Most usually actually have an antenna that is glue to the windshield.

I think this should do the trick. I actually did this on an old Audiovox alarm once, but it's been so long ago that I don't remember if it worked.
