Extended radius arm question

i need extended radius arms for my bent beam kit on my 1993 2wd ranger. I heard that radius arms off the i beam f150's are longer than ranger radius arms. so I figured I can just take a set off an F150 at the junkyard and use them as "extended" radius arms on my ranger.

BUT i dont know if the F150 radius arms will bolt up to my beams on my ranger? can anyone help me out with this?
 
ill go with fab your own the right way not just welding pipe over the old ones and making them longer
 
ya i know what you mean. thats why i wanna find out if the F150 radius arms will work cuz they would mount back near the tranny crossmember, so they will be long enough. I just need to find out if they will bolt up to the beams on my ranger. ill plate them to make them strong.
 
don't mess with f150 arms, they'll take more work than just modding your stockers. i 100% suggest that you weld tubes on the end of your stock arms to get started. it's easy and strong as hell if you do it right. are you able to do your own fab work?

if you weld it into the radius arm and not just on the end shoved over the stud, then gusset it and box in the stock arm, it is very strong. i know you desert guys see more abuse than my duner but you'd have to push it really hard before the arm would fail. going this route saves you the work of building the whole front half on the arm. the stock arms are very beefy and not that bad of a base to build off of. i wouldn't be trying to push this idea on you but i think that if you were considering using the f150 arms you'd be MUCH happier (and better off) going this route.
also, make sure to tie your frame mounts together. they like fold in toward each other when your really pushing your truck though the bumps.

i agree and disagree. when your building a truck, time adds up fast. it's easy to say, "if i'm going to do this thing, i should just do it the right way and do this thing". like you could mod your stock steering and drive it or..... you can just do a little more work and fab up some swing steering. i'm a fan of getting the truck on the road (or dirt) and then doing the "extras" as time allows.
a bitchin set of full tube arms is sweet though.
 
im just gonna build a set off full tubular arms. It wont cost that much and will only take a half day. thanks for all of the info guys!

sounds good! make sure you post pics when they're done. keep tire clearance, frame clearance and caster angle in mind when you build them. the ones on our truck rub with 35's when the tire is at full turn.
