Hey all,
I have a 94 Explorer...has a 3 inch body lift right now...thinking about doing a 6" lift...i know all the front end stuff is the same exact for rangers and explorers and i was thinking about having the shop or a good buddy here do spring over in the rear...knowing that just doing spring over in the rear will give me 3-4 inches do you think i should try to peice together or individually buy the front kit and just get 2" blocks for the rear???
Thanks
Nick

spring over and 5.5" of lift it will sit level

I would get the Skyjacker kit. BDS uses a drop plate extension that can bust through the front differential housing.

The 6" Skyjacker kit is much more solid, and will match up with a rear SOA real well (it's actually closer to a 5" lift on a 4dr Ex, 5.5" on a 2dr).

Or you can get a Superlift 5.5" kit. They too have redone the pass drop bracket to a complete new bracket. They are cheaper and are built the same as the Skyjackers (I have seen both brackets side by side).

Superlift thankfully did do away with the drop plate, but their brackets still don't compare to Skyjacker's. Superlift's coils are stiffer too.

Go SOA in the back and do the 6" lift up front. With the weight of the sploder and 4.0L it will sit pretty much level, if it doesn't install some Warrior extended shackles in the back. Don't use an add a leaf if you dont have to, they ride like ass.

alright thanks...so you suggest Superlift and Skyjacker over BDS...and can you buy the front end parts seperately not just the kit??
Thanks
Nick

Yes get either the Skyjacker or the Superlift kit over the BDS.

You can buy the kits in individual pieces (coils, brackets, radius arms), but it is cheaper to get them as a kit.

If you can't get just the front alone as a kit, then get a complete kit that just has rear blocks, this would be cheapest.

In order of quality/durability (5.5"+ kits)
#1 Skyjacker
#2 James Duff

#3 Superlift

#4 BDS

Lol

I don't ride any asses, that's nasty
I get ridden :D

Concerning the lift, I agree with junkie, Go with skyjacker, best built kit.
I have the superlift lift currently and the springs are real stiff...not much flex, It handles nicely on the road tho
