Hey guys i need some help with an explorer project i will be starting this weekand. first off. 1993 Explorer 4dr 4.0L (4spd auto?) anyways i have a 5 spd, pedals, new clutch and flywheel, starter, new slave and clutch master cylinder, My problem is i dont knnow what to do about the neutral saftey wire? and the reverse lights and what other wiring would i be dealing with when i do this swap? im not too good with the wiring so if someone who has done this before could give me a run down on what to do with the wiring. also my pedals i have are from a 89 ranger ext cab. will they work for the swap? any help would be appreciated! :icon_cheers:

The 1993 slave doesn't work with pre 1993 pedals. You could use a 1992 clutch master to work with that clutch pedal.

sorry, the tranny i have is from a 92 ranger i believe. Temporarily using fm146 because im having trouble finding thew maszda trans around here :tease:
what im more concerned about is what to do with the old overdrive wires and neutral/reverse lights.. will they plug in?i heard there was some sort of "trick" to cross 2 wires together to make the computer think you are always in nutral when you start it enev though you dont hjave the clutch in. Does this sound right? can somone please give ne an idea of wire color? or point me in the right direction to a diagram. any help greatly appreciated:pray:

I'm not sure if the 1993's trans harness wires are the same color but...

The wiring for the NSS circuit goes like this. From the original A4LD harness. Take the red/lt blue striped wire, and splice it to the Pink and red/white striped wires. The other 2 wires you are left with are the black/purple and black/orange wires for the reverse lights.

The other 3 wires are for the trans solenoids. Pull them out of the harness or cut and tape them off.

You'll want to find a 1993 manual trans explorer to get the computer from and the trans harness. The you can just plug it in at the fender well and not have to splice as much.
