Found this on craigs list

It came out of a wrecked 1996 explorer sport. Did explorers have manual transmissions? I have never seen one.... I have a 1999 Ranger 4x4 auto with a blown 5r55e and have been looking for a 5 speed transmission to swap in. I was just wondering if this is a good canidate or will I run into some problems since its a little older. I just wanted to know before I waisted my time calling and going to look at it.

thanks in advance.

another craigslist link for the same rig

Yeah, they were actually pretty common in Explorer Sports, it may even have a manual t-case, I'm not sure about it bolting up to your Ranger... If you have a 4.0 OHV it will bolt up perfectly, if it's the SOHC flavor I have no clue...

i did some more research and i belive that the explorer's transmission is a
M5OD R1 which should be the same length as my 5r55e so thats good it will bolt up with no mods accept some wiring. If he still has the rest of the explorer would it make a good doner rig for the peddal assembly? or do i need to find a ranger closer to my year for interior donor parts?
