Explorer Sport Tailgate Protector?

On my way to work I pass a Explorer Sport. It has a factory tailgate cap that has a bit of of a spoiler built into it. Is the tailgate width the same as a fleetside ranger? I only ask because the sport appears to be a bit of a step side bed.
