To start off I have read all the tech section about the 64" springs and shackle flip with the beltech 6400 shackle. I was stocked and knowing my 92 exploder is RBV my research was complete... until I found that the rear springs on the explorer are mounted under the frame not outside the frame. Ive seen a few builds that have the springs mounted outside of the frame and Ive seen some that just use longer shackles. Also I know the frame is wider but ill be swapping out the rear axle with a fullsize axle so there should be room for the springs. I can get all of the bracket from the ranger and mount them on my frame with the 64's for pretty cheap and I have to move the mounts anyways from their stock location.
My question would be is it worth it? What makes this the favorable choice over extended shackles? is it just to keep the COG low? would it make the rig more stable in the desert but loose articulation? thanks for your help in advance.
