Hi everyone,
well brand new to the forum. I am looking at picking up an 1991 Exploder. My question is.
I would like to lift it between 4-6 inches. But I'm really having a hard time figuring out what lift or parts or really anything.
I have seen a few lifts for $1000+ (more than I'm looking to spend)

Is there a lift or way to lift this Exploder between 4-6 inches?

I have lifted several other trucks (Jeeps) but those I used bolt on kits.

Any help would be great!

Any lift kit for a '83-'97 Ranger will bolt onto that year of Explorer. You can also look for a lift kit for a '91-'94 Explorer.

Skyjacker is probably the best. Explorer lifts cost more than Ranger lifts because the Explorer has a sprung-under rear so the kits include new rear springs. Rangers are sprung-over so all you need is taller blocks for the rear. You could get a cheaper 6" Ranger lift for the front and convert the rear to sprung-over if you or a friend can weld. It's up to you if it's worth the bother. Just make sure you get the pinion angle right.

What Jr.(sorry had to) for got to mention the you may either need to flip the rear axle or get some extended shackles. The leaf springs on the ex's are under the axle as opposed to being on top like the rangers. I flipped the rear of mine and gained approximately 7 inches of lift in the rear. Dumped the rear sway bar and used the lower mounting hole for the sway bar on the axle for my rear shock mounts.

That might work, and I can weld...

Any information about doing a spring over in the rear?

Still not sure on what to do for the front?
You will simply have to get an Explorer or Ranger lift kit if you're going to level it with the rear. There is no other option. Sorry.
The John_Rock Sport Trac (the black one) in the link has the later model front suspension but does not have a front lift kit other than a torsion twist. It is sprung-under in the rear with shackles and a bodylift, so it is high but does have a bit of rake to it.

Wouldn't it be possible to fab up the axle pivot brackets, radius drop brackets and extend the radius arms if you had, or knew someone with skills at that stuff?

Do anyone sell mix and match lift kits, I could could jsut buy the front parts and not the rear parts to the lift kit?

Basically you just want a Ranger lift because the only rear parts it will have will be the lift blocks. It's not like those add a lot of money to the kit and you could probably sell them anyway.
