I have sixty two dollars credit at pick and pull. This weekend is a 50% off sale. I'm thinking about going for explorer leaf springs. All tech info here is great but I have not found one that tells me what I need to remove the explorer leaf springs. I am talking about what tools and any necessary info I need to be prepared for the junk yard.

TIA
Terry

Anything 1/2 drive or bigger. Deep sockets to accompany. Wrenches, pliers, big hammer. WD40/PB Blaster. Actually depends on the location where you live to know what to expect....for example rust.

Do you know what size wrenches and sockets?

Driveshaft is a 1/2" 12 spline wrench or socket. (not that you'll most likely need it)

Grab a BFH (big freakin hammer), a longer screwdriver, and a breaker bar and ratchet. I believe the u-bolt nuts are 3/4". Take an 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, and 7/8" socket AND wrench with you.

The leaf spring bolts are either a 19MM or 3/4" socket and wrench. Good luck getting them out tho. They most likely will be siezed in there.

Also take some PB Blaster with you and a pry bar.

I have a nut splitter too "ouch". I don't know if it will be of any use though.

Portable torch, if not better bring some friends with big forearms.

What about a battery sawzall? My bolts were so siezed that cutting the brackets would've been the only way.

That is alot less extreme, portable impact might work too.

You win a no expenses paid trip to the OPs town to help him cut the springs out of the junk truck.

That would be great. The sawzall sounds like the way to go. Most of the trucks here do not have any rust. You are welcome to come here to help me. There is at least 3 brothels less then 2 miles from pick and pull plus casions to lose your money at.
