I added some spacers (1.25" worth) under the front springs but didn't get hardly any lift (.5" maybe). I have read on here about people using Explorer coils for some more lift. I know 91-94 on the years but I didn't know 4wd or 2wd ones, if it even matters. My local junkyard says there are a number of codes on these. Any particular ones? They are asking $25-$35 per spring... seems steep to me considering on Rockauto I see new ones for $50 and up for a set. Any suggestions?

Any RBV 4.0L spring will work, whether it be explorer or ranger. Both had the D35 axle to handle the extra weight of the 4.0L, and the 4.0L springs is what you are looking for, and yes, you want 4WD springs

Actually all 4.0 coil springs are the same. The 2wd and 4wd use the same springs. The only difference in the 4wd height came from the axle.
