I just heard that you can reprogram the Ex’s computer to delete the Transmission Functions ?

Anyone else up to speed on this.

I want to run a 5/0L/NV4500/Atlas II in the Ranger but do not know what to do about a computer/manual trans ? ;brownbag;

thks

I also would like to learn more on this topic

An auto computer will work with a manual trans. At least that's my experience with Fox Mustang computers. I know the Foxes only had an AOD.

The mustang ecu's won't work on the explorer motor due to the edis...you will need to get a tuner like SCT to delete the auto trans from the ecu. While your at it you can delete the PATS as well...

Good info and thks.

i have a 94 ranger with 2001 exporer 5.0, did the entire harness/ecu swap. I got the sniper special forces tuner to disable pats and retune it. I have an m5r2 stick and just clicked standard on the tune and it runs fine. The odd thing is i am still gettin shift error codes and torque converter codes haha but it runs and drives fine

The sniper tuned it, but didn't delete the auto trans, just the PATS...contact the manufacturer and see if they can email you the file. I know SCT does it, but not sure about sniper...

We can do this without going to Ford ?
I was thinking in to the shop.

Sniper Special Forces Tuner, need to write that down.
Are there any others or “the one” so to speak that works the best.

Thks for the info, great, now I am starting to feel better about the manual trans and the 5.0L.

85mustangman, why did you buy the sniper tuner ?
Just asking because I will now beed to buy one of those too.
Also, what did your 5 sp come out of, an F150, anything special you had to do ?

I have an SCT x3 tuner and i love it. If i have custom upgrades (like a cam or supercharger) I can email SCT with my specs, they will design a tune just for my setup and email me the file so I can upload it to my tuner via usb. Free unlimited custom tunes from SCT are available when you purchase a tuner from SCT. Customer service is great too...
