I’ve installed this Explorer auto lamp rearview mirror in my 96 Ranger. My problem is, no matter where I put the slider, the headlights do not turn off when key turned off until after three minutes. I would like them to turn off sooner. Has anyone installed this and have any suggestions on how to solve this?

Does it respond in any way? Maybe 3 minutes is the minimum? Kinda surprised it works at all on that old a model.

Yes. No matter where you put the slider, the headlights will turn off in three minutes. Supposedly using the slider you can make them cut off immediately or stay on up to three minutes. But no matter where I put the slider, it takes three minutes for it to turn off. I’ve gone over my wiring a dozen times, so I’m thinking that the slider is defective. And yes, after 30 years, I’m surprised it works also.
