Explorer 8.8 into a BII....

I am getting an Explorer 8.8 that is already setup to run in a Ranger (it is presently installed in a '93+ Ranger).

How much will I need to move the spring perches inward to get it to bolt up to my BII springs?

I know that the Explorer 8.8 and Ranger 7.5 are exactly 39" center to center, but the Tech Articles don't have any info on the BII 7.5. I am at work and have gotten curious; the BII is at home.


Any help is appreciated!
 
i think the difference is neglegible, u wont have to move the spring perches, ive used b2 7.5's in rangers, and vice versa more then a few times

It is going to be awsome having a wider track BII! I wont know what to do with the stability!
 
I'd move the perches.
You can get a "Ranger axle" to fit by forcing it, but you're putting a lot of strain on the leafs and shackle hangers by doing that.

Its about 1" per side the perches need to be moved outward for the BII.
 
And don't forget to check and correct the driveline angles.

You can get "close" on an Exploder, but not on a Bronco II. That's a massively short rear driveshaft.
 
1" outward? Wow I figures it would be inward.

BII is wider, yes.
 
mine never seemed that far off, maybe 1" total between the 2 sides, i just know iver never had a problem with it.....but since its goin from a ranger to a bII i guess it would matter more, with the springs being bowed in slightly instead of bowed out slightly
 
that and it was originally setup for an '03 Ranger.
