Are there any performance parts for an '04 Ford Explorer 4.0? I would like to add a cold air intake, but the mass air sensor is integral with the lid for the air box. Can I swap to a Sport Trac or Ranger mass air so I can run another intake? Will headers for a Ranger fit? Help please! I need more power to turn the 32's on the Explorer and hopefully pick up some mileage.

There are CAI that are made specifically for those models, you'll just have to search around. I wouldnt try swapping MAF sensors. As for the headers, JBA makes them and are probably the best quality available. Ranger headers will be different.
If you need more power to turn 32s, you need lower (numerically higher) gears. They will be the best bang for the buck and get you the most gains you want (torque that you can feel).

The only air induction modification I have found for my Explorer is a K&N replacement filter. I won't be able to swap out the gears, can't afford it. It does have 3.73 gears from the factory, and the tires are only about 2 inches taller overall. Speedo is only off about 3 mph at 70. I plan on switching to a set of 31x10.50 all-terrains soon, I think they will give me a little better mileage.
