I have a quick question...
I am currently wheeling a '92 Ranger 4.0L/5spd/ D35/8.8 RC/SB. It is strictly and offroad rig due to missing roof and pillers (spent some time on it's top
). The rear has a "lincoln locker" and the front has a lock-right ratchet locker. It is running cut out fenders with 3 inch body lift on 33x12.50s MT with 15x10 steel wheels.
The truck does great except for one issue. It keeps exploding manual lockout hubs. It was originally equipped with manual hubs and manual transfer case. The factory manual hubs exploded, then the mile marker hubs exploded. The pass side is the one that seems to have most of the problems, but I have exploded both.
Is there a hub manufactor that produces a steel or a billet aluminum locking hub? Is there a way to just lock the hub or the shaft so that it can not come unlocked even if it is a perminant fix? The truck does not see any road use. I need something that can take some abuse. I have not tried the Warn hubs yet, but I am pretty sure that their life time warranty would kick out about the 3rd time they get replaced.
I am looking for some ideas and hopefully a one time fix
Thanks,
Chad T.
