i recently replaced the tranny in my 92 exploder and was wondering if anyone knows what causes the engine idle to raise 200+ rpm when shifting from park to reverse cause it did it with the old tranny too, just went up more rpms.

meaning that i would have to replace my computer right?

the computer bumps up the rpm when it is dropped in gear, it is made that way...if your idle is too high in gear, you might have to adjust it.

agreed on many cars the idle is increased a minimum of 200rpm when shifted into gear, and the same is true on many cars when the high beams are turned on, or the ac is turned on, and even when the engine temp is below a certain point
