exhaust under water

i have heard if your exhaust pipe goes under water your done!is it true?is there a constant pressure you have to keep on the gas so it doesnt suck back in the motor or?please fill me in on this question.thanx

As long as you keep your foot on the gas you should be fine. Until the water gets deep enough where there is to much pressure for your exhaust to get out then it starts to choke. Ive almost died in a few holes because of it thankfully i started out of the whole as the motor was giving up. but if it sucks it in your done

and make sure thats there are no holes in the exhaust that would let the water is sooner

Talk to those who have run dirt bikes in three feet of water, keep them rev's up and the exhaust blowing out.

i've had my exhaust under water on the road before. that was fun. driving down the road after a storm, run thru a "little puddle". next thing you know i'm up to my headlights in water. that was fun

I've had mine up to the windows in water before with no ill effects, running a cowl snorkle.

No problems with water going up the exhaust.

Hah if your that deep in water i don't know why you would be letting off. I would be like OH F__K!!!!! and floor it. forwards or backwards

Never had a problem with water going up the tailpipe. Just about every other fishing trip. My dad's Dodge Cummins exhuast pipe goes under water. Never had problem. Even my Ranger had its pipe under water when I helped a buddy get his Seadoo launched from my back bed. Thou these times were when we were on an incline. Maybe its when the vehicle is level or when the nose is pointing down that may be the problem.

let me throw this out there and see what everyone else thinks..... if you have the tip of your exhaust go down at a 45 degree angle and you make a flat cut like parallel to the ground it should create an air pocket so water wont go up into the exhaust. kind of like filling up a sink with water and taking an empty glass and putting the open side down there is an air pocket that the air cant go into. as long as the tip is lower than the lowest part of your exhaust you should be ok
